THIS IS A CONTEST REQUIRING A WRITTEN ENTRY. This is not someone’s English exam. This contest is about a dream of owning a beach house on the beautiful Oregon Coast. To enter you should put that dream in writing as an essay of 100 words or less. See the rules page for details.

It must be close to Spring! Puffins have been sighted across the street on the rocks! This is the first sightings in more than 20 years. The beautiful, graceful and elegant California Brown Pelicans are starting to return for the season. The Gray Whales are coming back in close to shore and are always a delight. Tis the season to be on the Coast.

For those of you in the contest and potential entrants: We have had one serious inquiry about a book dealing superficially with us and the contest, but primarily with the winners and what their life is like after winning the house. We stay in touch with all the media regarding the coverage, especially after the contest and all the hoopla that will go with that. The winner(s) will be kept in the loop via email and/or phone.

All this is contingent upon the contest being a success so help get the word out and if you are still setting on you entry get it in. All these good things will happen ONLY IF the contest succeeds. If you want to part of this unique event write it down and get it in!

This past weekend was a welcome change from the past months with a beautiful day on Saturday and about 30 at the open house. Sunday was not as nice but no rain and we had about 100 visitors. Many were those that had wanted to come over to the coast but the foul weather had made it difficult. Just why we extended the contest.

The entries from Oregon still lead but once again a spate of out of state mail has arrived. We have added 2 new countries for a total of 8 and the number of states is now at 45.

The latest media and press issues are out to the entire US and to AOL for most out of US coverage.

Although the volume of new entries has not increased dramatically the interest remains very high. The total is 2092 .

Remember that those of you that have entered the contest and/or visited the house are the greatest media coverage we can get. Tell a friend or relative about the contest; better yet, send the web site to them. Just click on “send to a friend” at the top of the Home Page.”

When we held our open house for 10 months trying to sell this house last year we listed our phone number for those who could not make the hours of the open house and wanted a tour. Since we are only 8 miles (and about 15 minutes) away we are initiating that offer effective April 23rd. The cell phone # is 541-270-4123. We would appreciate that calls be limited to after 10AM and no later than 6PM. We will try this out and see how it works. We will continue the regularly scheduled open house every Sat/Sun 10AM-4PM.

I am confident that with the weather improving we will meet our goal of 3000.

Hi. We are Sharon and Ray Sinclair. We are the owners of this great home.
Due to Ray's serious medical problems from 2006/07 we are forced to move to a smaller, one story home without an RV garage.

Unfortunately, we could not find that home in this great village of Yachats.
We have attempted to sell our home through the conventional, on-line methods and by owner, to no avail.

We have lived here full time for over 11 years and dearly love Yachats and our home, but life goes on.

We bought this house in 1996 and spent the first year renovating it. We are the second owners.

There was a second renovation in 2005 with a new roof and central electric heating installed.

We are sad to see our home go but with this contest we are sure that the winners will find that they will love this home and living in Yachats. Good luck!
